Meet Scheketa Hart-Burns

Scheketa Hart Burns for 7th Ward Alderman

Alderman Hart-Burns was first elected in 1991. She has served on the Finance Committee and is also on the office committee for the Aldermen's Office. She is currently the chairperson of the Public Health, Safety and Transportation Committee (PHST) as well as a member of the Finance Committee.

Alderman Hart-Burns is a graduate of Edison College. She is happily married to William F. Burns and is the mother of 5 adult children: Malik, Kehinde, Hakim, Amina and Ahmad Hart (deceased) and Michael, Vernon and Arvin Burns.

Alderman Hart-Burns organized:

  • Chairperson Weed and Seed with the Kane County States Attorney Office

She also helped several Aurora Food Pantries and served the Quad County Urban League Board Member and as an adviser for 33 years. She' also served Marie Wilkinson Child Care Center Board Member and was an adviser for 18 years, started the City of Aurora first coat drive in 1995. She was also a member of LULAC, and Founder of the Back to School Bash at Martin Luther King Park.

Alderman Hart-Burns is an Evangelist Missionary at Greater Mount Olive COGIC.
